Alone?
Ha. The other had no idea what it felt like to be alone. Sure, the reaper knew nothing of the girls past or quite a few members of class zero for that matter, but if one thing was for sure, she was broken. She could tell the others words were genuine as she spoke, a trait she had always admired in the brunette, but was this secret of hers even worth mentioning? Was it worth dying for?
Hesitantly, she opened her mouth to speak, choosing her words carefully before she began talking, “Deuce this aint some normal secret you can jus’ tuck under the rug and have it go unnoticed by everyone.” She began her words slow, ensuring the other didn’t see her as pathetic for what she was talking about, “Ever since I got this damn weapon, shit started happenin to my head, mother would wake me up screamin’ thinkin’ someone had snuck in and was killin’ me” she let out a small huff of amusement at the memories, ignoring the parts that came afterwards.
She felt almost stupid as she spoke, how in Etros name was she supposed to explain this? “Look, when we go suckin’ in those damn phantomas? I don’t jus get that, I get memories, feelin’s thought’s, dreams; everythin’ that goes on in their damn heads, smooshes up an’ sticks into mine”
Her tone was somewhat unstable as she spoke, finding this harder to speak about than she remembered when she had told Number Seven, “Every, little thing they feel, I feel it too. Normally I can jus fuckin drown it out but when I’m asleep it takes over, I can feel their torture before we killed ‘em. I know exactly how it feels to be killed by every single one ‘o you, over an’ over again. That’s what he was talkin’ about.” her last few words seemed to be filled with malice as she spoke, trying to hide her feelings towards the situation
“Normally I go to Sev but… obviously that aint an option right now”
A dry, humorless smirk was the initial response to Deuce’s carefully worded persuasion. It held but a fleeting existence, however, for the reaper’s usual front had gradually begun adopting a more contemplative expression. One of which the Number Two could only hope was the result of the consideration she desired.
And then Sice was speaking–she was actually willing to meet the melodist halfway on this one. Deuce felt somewhat of a warmth swelling up in her chest, but it was quickly shattered by the tortured expression emerald hues fell upon. The brunette’s visage was painted with evident engrossment whilst the other elaborated, but inside, she could feel her heart aching more and more with every word that was spinning this nightmarish web. Of all the possibilities that had darted through her mind, she had never even come close to this–had never even thought to consider it.

“I-I… I had no idea, Sice. I’m so sorry,” came the soft reply, tone weighed heavy with emotion. There were no mere words that could could trump the burdensome chains that bound the other–she knew that. Though Deuce could only fathom what her classmate had endured, and would never truly grasp the depth of it, no matter how hard she tried… One thing that she did know was that with any burden, no matter how arduous, could almost always be eased with having another help carry it. Her years with Class Zero only served to solidify said ideal.
“You said that all this started when you got your weapon… Have you figured out why? And do their thoughts, their feelings, and… Pain… Do they stay forever?” Perhaps it was not the best aspect to pass time with–Etro knows when their interrogators would make an inevitable reappearance. And Deuce did not want to become an interrogator herself with inquiry after inquiry. But maybe working backwards would help shed a little light on the silverette’s dilemma.
“–It explains why I sometimes hear you go to Seven’s room late at night. And I’m really relieved that you’re at least going to someone,” her lips curved momentarily into a tiny, amiable smile before proceeding. “But… I’ve known you for years and years, and I had no idea. So… Why do they?"
